Timber Inline Treatment System (TILT)
Crusader Engineering formed a joint venture with the New Zealand Forest Research Institute to develop the worlds first timber ‘In-line’ treatment system (TILT). The technology was perceived as being necessary to provide fast, economic treatment of dry framing timbers to an H1 Plus standard to meet local treatment.
We completed the scientific evaluation of a million dollar plus pilot plant, built by Crusader, and installed on the grounds of the Forest Research establishment (Now Scion) in Rotorua. It confirmed our view that the technology is practical and effective and consequently patents were granted.
TILT utilises an aqueous boron based treatment system that provides a treatment to protect timber against fungal and insect attack. In a situation where water ingress occurs into a building due to faulty design or workmanship, the level of protection provided by the TILT system will prevent rot occurring for many years, thus allowing time for the leak to be identified and a solution implemented.
We can offer to industry, a total Timber Framing Treatment Solution, including the design and construction of the TILT plant (And if need be, within New Zealand, the total management of the new treatment facility).
